Sarah helps clients to protect and strategically develop their ideas, taking them from the concept stage through to commercialisation. She also provides commercial advice to Australian and international businesses, guiding clients through a range of business challenges including business acquisitions and disposals, corporate structuring, shareholder agreements and capital raising.
Sarah is responsible for the management of global trade mark portfolios for an extensive number of clients, including one of Australia’s most successful international artists.
Sarah has particular expertise in the technology sector, assisting clients in protecting and commercialising their copyright content and patented technology through the use of cloud computing and other online platforms. She also has substantial experience enforcing clients’ IP rights, having conducted litigation in the Federal Court of Australia relating to IP and consumer law claims.
For commercial matters, Sarah has astute commercial acumen, providing legal advice within the context of a client’s business goals and desired outcomes. She has represented clients in the sale and purchase of several hotels, technology providers and professional services businesses, and acted to establish and grow numerous multinational businesses in the technology, manufacturing and entertainment sectors.
Sarah is highly regarded for delivering holistic, practical and commercially-focused recommendations for her clients, always with an approachable style.
Outside the law, Sarah has an interest in the arts sector, where she has held a number of advisory and Board positions for not-for-profit organisations. She currently sits on the Referral Panel for the Arts Law Centre. She is also an accomplished musician and holds a Licentiate of Music diploma in piano performance.
She is a member of the International Trademark Association (INTA) and the Intellectual Property Society of Australia and New Zealand (IPSANZ).
Sarah has Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts degrees, with first class honours in English, as well as a Master of Laws from the University of NSW.
